Roses are red – and lavender, and white, and striped.
At least the new roses from Jackson & Perkins are.
The rose hybridizer is tempting rose lovers with four new introductions for 2015. They are:
Daring Spirit, a hybrid tea rose with 5-inch blossoms that flaunt deep pink and cream stripes and a spicy scent.
Obsession, a floribunda rose that Jackson & Perkins has named its 2015 Rose of the Year. Plants grow to 3-1/2 feet high by 3 feet wide and produce 4-inch red flowers with a light spice scent.
Wedding Dress, a groundcover rose with glossy, dark green foliage and 2-1/2-inch blooms that are white with a touch of pink. Plants grow to 2-1/2 feet high by 3 feet wide.
Pure Posh, a lavender rose with long, sturdy stems that are ideal for cutting. The 5-inch flowers have a rich fragrance.
All four roses are also available as tree roses, which means they’ve been grafted onto a straight cane so they look like a ball of blooms atop a slender trunk.
Supplies are limited, so if you really want one of these roses (or all of them!), you’re urged to order by the end of January.
